RECENTLY ON DISPLAY AT ART BASEL: MIAMI. DECEMBER 2021
The concept behind this series is that in effort to preserve certain species of animals we confine them in man-made "habitats" that mimic their natural environment. While this is based in good intention, these glorious creatures are now essentially caged in an artificial world, unable to live the life they were intended to live.
The background of each piece is a brick wall with a "spray painted" or neon representation of their environment, essentially creating an artificial urban jungle. For the large cats I chose a flashier "neon" style for them as big cats are often kept and used as forms of entertainment.
**This piece is currently on display at Buro 79 in the Wyndwood Arts District in Miami, FL. Art can be shipped or picked up from that location, or please add 2 weeks to studio pick-up times.
